SHORT BIOGRAPHY Gina Oliva, Ph. D., is a Professor of Physical Education and Recreation at Gallaudet University. She received her B. A. in Psychology from Washington College (Chestertown, Md.), her M. A. in Counseling from Gallaudet College and her Ph.D. in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Maryland. Her first book, "Alone in the Mainstream: A Deaf Woman Remembers Public School" (2004) initiated the Deaf Lives Series published by the Gallaudet University Press. She is currently researching summer and weekend programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and youth.
