MissionThe mission of the Recreation and Leisure Studies Program is consistent with the mission of the Department of Physical Education and Recreation in its commitment to provide individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing with educational experiences that encourage personal growth, ethical practices, and critical thinking. Recreation graduates are working in: - Therapeutic Recreation at Springfield Hospital, National Deaf Academy, Camp mark Seven, Marie Katzenburg School for the Deaf, The North Carolina School for the Deaf, Maryland School for the Deaf, MSSD.
- Others have worked at Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning, The Leary School, Arlington County Recreation and Parks Department, Montgomery County Recreation Department.
- Others have had jobs in gerontology.
The Recreation and Leisure Studies majors prepares students for leading recreation programs for people of all ages and abilities in different environments. The Recreation and Leisure Studies program is accredited by the American Association of Leisure and Recreation (NRPA/AALR) Council on Accreditation.
